Head Register (High Notes) Support Page

Hey, high notes are calling—let's make them your friend!

If your assessment flagged trouble hitting high notes, it's super common: your head register (that light, buzzy "Mickey Mouse" or "Snow White" voice) is likely underused and needs some loving attention. Head voice isn't weak or fake—it's a powerful tool for easy highs that carry without strain. Think Prince in "Kiss" or that falsetto sparkle in countless pop hooks. Strengthening it opens up your upper range without flipping or forcing.

Quick Anatomy Note (Not Medical Advice): Head register coordinates your vocal cords for lighter vibration, higher resonance. When it's underdeveloped, highs feel unreachable or squeaky. Good news: consistent playful practice builds coordination fast.

3 Short Exercises to Start Today (5-10 minutes)

Do these daily in front of a mirror. Breathe easy, stay playful—no pushing!

  1. Find Your Head Voice (1 minute)

    • Say "meow" or "nyah" in your lightest, most cartoonish voice (like Minnie Mouse).

    • Feel the buzz in your face/forehead? That's head resonance. Repeat 5-10 times on a comfortable pitch.

    • Pro Tip: Smile slightly—it lifts the soft palate for brighter sound.

  2. Sirens Up (2 minutes)

    • Starting on "oo" slide smoothly from your speaking pitch up to your highest comfy note (like a siren: ooo-eee-ooo).

    • Keep it light and connected—no breaks. Do 8-10 reps.

    • Song Starter: Hum the melody of "Kiss" by Prince in head voice.

  3. Bubble Lips High (2 minutes)

    • Lip trill (brrr) starting mid-range, sliding up into head voice.

    • If trill breaks, switch to "oo" vowel. 5 reps up, 5 down.

    • Bonus: Record yourself—listen for ease, not perfection.

What to Expect: After a week or two, highs should feel lighter and more reliable. If tension creeps in, pause and shake it out.
